Why wine is beneficial to you

We have all heard the biblical tale of Jesus turning water in wine; it shows us the historical depth of this simple aged old fermented grape. But why has wine been around thousands of years? How can a simple beverage be so instilled in today's society through complimenting food, supplementing social gatherings and get-togethers?

Let's delve into a brief history of wine and its benefits and hopefully further encourage your decision to attend our event ‘one responsible taste at a time.

” A glass a day keeps the doctors away”

First and foremost over the years, we have learnt the physiological and mental benefits of enjoying a wine, the old saying of ‘a glass a day keeps the doctor away.’ A healthy intake of approximately 150 ml a day equivalent to one glass has been shown to retain the good HDL cholesterol in our body which in turn decreases the bad HDL cholesterol (the type your nutritionist warns you about) and unclogs the arteries to your heart.

Packed full of antioxidants a darker grape contains resveratrol and proanthocyanidins as it main antioxidant components. These antioxidants play an integral role in lowering cholesterol and the risk of heart disease by protecting and guarding the lining of blood vessels in our most valued muscular organ; the heart. Additionally, proanthocyanidins have been the case of studies to lowering or even preventing cancers along with heart disease. So we can say the consummation of red wine has been a positive benefactor for overall health.

”We can find a pretentious notion to that glass a day and retain the youthful glow and persona that we all admire”

The darker red wines have been seen to have an array of psychological benefits to middle-aged people who are most likely dealing with the everyday trials and tribulations of life by soothing and relaxing the mind with a release of chemical endorphins. On the contrary white wines have been known to increase cognitive activity and energise the host should he/she be willing. So dependant on mood or state picks the wine that would suit you!

Living in our harsh winter climate here in Finland it is also good to note that wine serves as a killer of dangerous bacteria and viruses that are harmful to us, especially during the frostbitten winter temperatures and ‘winter colds.

”Lowering body fat percentage and narrowing that waste and decreasing abdominal fat, in some cases the antioxidants have been known to slow down the ageing process”

An obvious point to take away from this is that it's not the actual alcohol that provides these benefits but only a subsidiary reaction of grapes that are being fermented.

So with a mature head and understanding of the benefits of wine, we can be able to enjoy a glass a day knowing that it serves a great mental and physical purpose to us. Lowering body fat percentage and narrowing that waste and decreasing abdominal fat, in some cases, the antioxidants have been known to slow down the ageing process, so I guess we can find a pretentious notion to that glass a day and retain the youthful glow and persona that we all admire.

“Be part of a fantastic event which the community and city can be proud of”

As said earlier we encourage all to drink responsibly, we can gain the benefits of wine to help with our health to a certain point and the balance of consumption of alcohol is a pivotal factor in achieving this.  Information provided has not been based on exact scientific studies but rather a collective of information gathered over time.

So, with the beneficial scientific jargon to one side we implore you to attend this fabulous event, come to socialise, taste some incredible wine, and be part of a fantastic event which the community and city can be proud of.
